Fleur Macqueen Smith

Fleur has worked as a research and knowledge transfer officer in the Healthy Children research program at the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit since 2004. This research program focuses on conducting research that is of use to policy makers and practitioners, by working with people from the government and community-based organizations to conduct research and turn research results into policies and practices that improve the lives of children, their families, and communities. Fleur has a degree in English and Business Studies from the University of Waterloo and journalism training from Ryerson School of Journalism. She is completing an Interdisciplinary Master's degree at the University of Saskatchewan, investigating how communities of practice in person and online can strengthen relationships between researchers and decision-makers. She has published articles on knowledge transfer methods, including a framework on working with decision-makers. Prior to her work with SPHERU, she worked as a writer, editor and public relations officer at several universities and in the private sector. She lives in Saskatoon with her husband and four children.
