Job Posting: Knowledge Broker with Evidence to Care @HollandBloorview

Are you a skilled knowledge broker looking for a chance to work with a dedicated knowledge translation (KT) team? Are you passionate about ‘evidence hunting’ and synthesis methodologies? Do you have a genuine interest in childhood disability and desire to make an impact as a KT practitioner? The Evidence to Care team has an opening for a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) 1 year contract (12 months). Opportunities for renewal are based on funding availability and performance. There is an expectation of on-site activities (this is not a virtual role).

Responsibilities

Knowledge synthesis (50%)

  • Lead consultations with knowledge users to problem solve, identify knowledge needs and plan necessary synthesis activities
  • Execute synthesis activities and summarize research findings to form the basis of rapid evidence reviews, standards of care and KT products
  • Communicate and highlight key findings using tailored and lay language for varied audiences in different written and/or visual outputs

KT Capacity Building (15%)

  • Develop and/or contribute to workshops/webinars on aspects of KT practice for varied audiences
  • Apply and communicate use of KT science (theories, models and frameworks) in daily practice
  • Consult with researchers and clinicians on knowledge synthesis methodologies and other aspects of KT science and practice

Knowledge mobilization (35%)

  • Work with Evidence to Care team to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of flagship knowledge translation products and strategies
  • Facilitate identification and integration of evidence into knowledge translation processes/practice, activities and outputs of Evidence to Care
  • Support creative and informational design of infographics, posters, slide decks and other visual-written dissemination materials applying lay language and accessibility principles
  • Contribute to scholarly opportunities as relevant, including conference submissions, manuscript development and other activities

Qualifications

Education

  • MA/MSc in a field relevant to childhood disability/pediatric rehabilitation or health-related discipline required
  • Knowledge translation certificate training (e.g., practice, implementation, synthesis, engagement)

Experience, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding, application and passion for knowledge synthesis methodologies
  • Ability to interpret and identify key results from health and rehabilitation research and succinctly summarize findings in plain language in a range of outputs (slide decks, written reports and other formats) tailored for varied diverse audiences
  • Able to apply qualitative research methodologies to the analysis and interpretation of synthesis and/or evaluation data; quantitative methods and analysis is also of value
  • Strong practical and theoretical understanding of aspects of knowledge translation
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail and produce consistently high quality and trustworthy work
  • Highly motivated individual who is able to take initiative, work both independently and collaboratively, and take on a variety of tasks as a member of a small team
  • Excellent time-management skills with ability to multi-task and balance projects with tight, short and/or far-off deadlines
  • Able to work with a variety of stakeholders to develop relationships and achieve shared goals; skills at anticipating and tactfully resolving stakeholder relation issues are an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills
  • Experience with computer applications to build knowledge translation products and resources (i.e.,  infographics, slide decks and/or video stories) is an asset
  • Genuine interest in childhood disability and desire to make an impact as a KT practitioner
  • Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism
