Canadian Neuromuscular Disease Network Knowledge Translation Broker

The Knowledge Broker will hold the primary responsibility for developing and implementing knowledge translation strategies for the Canadian Neuromusclar Disease Network (CAN-NMD). The incumbent will report to Dr. Craig Campbell, Co-Investigator leading the knowledge translation activities for the Network and will also work under indirect supervision by Dr. Cynthia Gagnon, co-investigator leading the knowledge translation activities for the Network. The position will also engage in regular reporting to the CAN-NMD National Director of Operations in Calgary and the Governance and Administration Committee and Strategic Operations Committee overseeing activities associated with the project. Further the position will work closely with the GRIMN project team in Quebec.

The incumbent requires strong relationship building skills in order to enable engagement of all project and external stakeholders to facilitate knowledge related activities throughout the project. This position will also have additional responsibilities working as a research professional for the London Neuromuscular Clinic Team. Specific duties will be assigned by Dr. Craig Campbell.

Rate of Pay: To commensurate with experience
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Duration of Contract: 1 year

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Health Policy, Public Health, Neuroscience, Social Sciences, or Clinical Sciences
• Successful completion of a Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Health Policy, Public Health, Neuroscience, Social Sciences, or Clinical Sciences preferred
• Minimum two (2) years recent, related experience in research coordination or knowledge translation
• Experience in Neurology patient care or research an asset
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in English
• Communication skills (both verbal and written) in French preferred
• Strong listening skills and facilitation or mediation experience
• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
• Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task multiple activities with competing priorities
• Experience in dissemination or implementation projects
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Plain language and technical writing skills preferred
• Demonstrated ability to create web sites and an understanding HTML coding preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
