Position Description:
The Provincial System Support Program at CAMH is currently seeking a full-time, temporary Program Consultant (Regional Knowledge Exchange Lead) for its Regional Services, North, Penetanguishene. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Knowledge Exchange Lead will play an important connective role on a local level. You will be an integral member of the EENet (Evidence Exchange Network) team and take strategic direction from the Manager of Knowledge Exchange in the Provincial System Support Program. This position will be responsible for a variety of knowledge exchange activities associated with EENet. As the local ‘face’ of EENet you will act as a two-way conduit for information sharing between EENet and local communities. You will have an understanding of the social determinants of health and understand the principles of health equity including knowledge about culturally appropriate research and evaluation methodologies specifically as it relates to values, ethics and research protocols in Aboriginal and First Nation communities as well as Francophone communities. The Regional KE Lead will be specifically charged with building and fostering linkages between community, hospital, Aboriginal agencies, First Nation communities, Francophone agencies, university research centres, LHINs, other local and regional planning bodies and other community mental health and addictions stakeholders for knowledge exchange purposes. Your duties and responsibilities also include acting as local connectors of knowledge producers and knowledge users (e.g. planning tables, LHINs, community MH&A programs, hospital MH&A programs, Human Services and Justice Committees, public health bodies, etc); building and fostering relationships with researchers within Universities and Academic Health Science Centres; and enhancing community capacity to engage in research and KE activities and use evidence for decision-making; feeding research activity and promising practices back to EENet’s management and resource centre; developing KE products and organizing KE activities for the region and the broader network; and facilitating access to appropriate and tailored evidence in support of local and regional service collaboratives. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. The position is located in Penetanguishene, and will involve travel within Simcoe-Muskoka and Northeastern Ontario as well as occasional travel to Toronto.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Health Services, Social Services, Knowledge Translation Research or an equivalent combination of a University degree in a related discipline with a minimum of three (3) years’ related experience. Experience includes management of complex projects; facilitation of groups; adult education and training; development of work plans, budgets and communication plans; as well as literature search, quality appraisal, applicability assessment and interpretation. Understanding of knowledge exchange conceptual models, frameworks and strategies and experience with a range of knowledge exchange methods (e.g. communities of practice, newsletters, workshops, online collaborative spaces, online repositories) with demonstrated ability to research, analyze and develop knowledge exchange options and strategies would be considered an asset. Experience working within research and/or government environments, as well as First Nations communities and Aboriginal agencies are also considered assets. You will have demonstrated skills in project management, time management, interpersonal communication, and problem solving. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage a diverse task load are required. You must be proficient in web-based tools and MS Office software, including spreadsheet and presentation applications, and comfortable with web and social media technologies to foster engagement. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and possess the ability for self-directed learning, but also able to collaborate well with team members using excellent networking, leadership, relationship building, interpersonal and listening skills to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and to facilitate the development of partnerships. Established relationships and demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with Aboriginal and Francophone communities is essential. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are also necessary. Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, respect and cultural competence is required. Bilingualism (French/English) is strongly preferred.
