Canadian Water Network (CWN) is seeking a Knowledge Mobilization Intern to support the evaluation of CWN programs and projects to demonstrate value achieved for end users, as well as the interpretation and communication of research implications for various end user audiences. The position is accountable to the Knowledge Mobilization Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Knowledge Mobilization Intern provides administrative and data analysis support for CWN’s Knowledge Mobilization Program and objectives on two key CWN initiatives: the implementation of a comprehensive research program evaluation, and the development of end-user oriented reports highlighting implications of CWN research projects. The intern will serve as the key point of contact for CWN research team members, partners, and end users to secure and support their participation in these two initiatives. The intern will also be responsible for organizing, categorizing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data on research project outputs and outcomes.
The main accountabilities of this position are outlined below. Accountabilities and duties will remain, ultimately, at the direction of the Executive Director and are therefore subject to change.
TASKS
- Serve as the key point of contact (via phone and email) for CWN research team members, partners, and end users to initiate and support their participation in the research program evaluation and the development of end-user oriented reports;
- Develop and manage systems to track research team member, partner, and end user responses and participation, and provide regular progress updates to the Knowledge Mobilization Officer;
- Organize and format qualitative and quantitative data on research project outputs and outcomes to ensure that information is consistent and presented in an accessible manner that meets the needs of CWN staff and facilitates data analysis;
- Support and conduct qualitative and quantitative data analyses including (but not limited to) content analyses, correlation analyses, and t-tests, to facilitate interpretation of results by CWN staff.
- Provide guidance to research team members in the development of end-user oriented reports, including responding to questions regarding content and focus, and providing feedback where required to ensure fit with CWN program objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Masters degree with a background in environment and/or water.
- Experience in social science and/or qualitative research methods.
- Experience in quantitative research methods.
- Exceptional analytical and data analysis skills.
- Experience managing large and complex datasets.
- Experience with analyzing data using SPSS.
- Experience communicating research findings in plain language format.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks professionally.
- Exceptional ability to schedule and manage own time effectively to deliver outputs on time.
- Must be available to work at CWN office in Waterloo.
POSITION DETAILS
- Full time (35 hours per week) for nine months (July 2014 – March 2015).
