The Region of Peel Region is seeking an Analyst, Health Services Research & Policy, in the Department of Health Services – Strategic Policy, Planning and Initiatives. The deadline for applications is May 1, 2014.
Responsibilities:
- Lead policy, research and advocacy work related to the health system
- Develop policy options and prepare reports, briefings and presentations for members of the Region’s Health Services Leadership team, other leaders throughout the organization and Regional Council using an evidence-based approach
- Develop partnerships and facilitate information exchange with other Regional departments and external partners/organizations/governments to inform decision-making related to priorities, policies, programs and/or services delivered by the Health Services Department and the Region of Peel more broadly
- Sit on internal and external committees to facilitate research and monitor Regional Council directives and corporate/departmental/divisional initiatives
- Network with policy staff throughout the Region and work with key stakeholders to maintain positive relations and increase early insight into emerging health system-wide issues
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Planning or related discipline; Master’s degree would be an asset
- Minimum three years’ experience in a municipal government or public sector environment with experience and responsibilities for policy development and planning, interpreting, analyzing and recommending policy directions/options
- Knowledge and understanding of health system policy, determinants of health and current issues as they relate to the delivery of health services within the context of Regional Municipal government
- Demonstrated excellent report writing skills
- Strong project coordination skills
- Well-developed analytical skills to conduct complex analyses
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office
- High degree of confidentiality, discretion, and politically savvy
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Compensation: Band 7 – As per Non-Union Salary Structure plus comprehensive benefits
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite A, Brampton
Hours of work: 35 hours/week – Monday through Friday
