Regional Education Coordinator

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has a full time opportunity for an Educational Coordinator. Reporting to the Regional Director of the North & East GTA Stroke Network, this role supports and assists in the development and implementation of regional educational priorities. The role will encompass elements of facilitator, coordinator, consultant, change agent, and educator.

Hours of Work: Mon–Fri, Days with some flexibility & off-site work required

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating knowledge translation through the ongoing development and dissemination of Stroke Best Practices in the NEGTA region and the Toronto Stroke Networks
  • Working collaboratively with the regional teams of the other Toronto Stroke Networks (Toronto West and South East Toronto) to support strategic priorities
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of a Knowledge Translation and Education Strategy across the Toronto Stroke Networks, with guidance from an expert advisory committee.
  • Promoting the development of joint educational initiatives and activities to foster dissemination and integration of stroke best practices and evolving evidence to be developed in conjunction with other stakeholders in the GTA.
  • Planning and collaboratively developing a formal and sustainable Stroke Virtual Community of Practice that captures stroke best practices for delivery in an integrated format including a primary web-based delivery.
  • Participating in the delivery of stroke program educational initiatives and outcome evaluation of targeted stroke clinical services as needed by the NEGTA Stroke team ( e.g. Stroke Unit Standards of Care, Hyper-acute Stroke Care, Secondary Prevention Clinic, Stroke Tele-rehabilitation, Acute stroke management, CME’s for Medical staff)
  • Active participation in the Ontario Regional Education Group (OREG) and work collaboratively with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, other Stroke Educators across Ontario , the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and regional partners in health promotion, stroke prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, long-term care and the community.
  • Complete other initiatives as identified by the Regional Director NEGTASN.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong skills in knowledge translation and principles of adult education
  • Licensed member in good standing with a professional college and/or licensed member under the Registered Health Professions Act.
  • Master’s degree (preferred) in any health or education related program
  • Significant recent experience in administration / management / leadership with exposure to health services research an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the continuum of stroke care.
  • Demonstrated coordination and networking skills.
  • Strong consultative skills combined with clinical, organizational and rehabilitation community development knowledge;
  • Previous experience as a change agent with an understanding of organizational cultures, including working with culturally diverse populations;
  • Well-developed leadership, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently;
  • Experience in project management an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Experience facilitating virtual communication an asset.
  • Experience in delivering educational presentations with demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Computer literate with a demonstrated knowledge of data collection, use of databases, data analysis, interpretation and project evaluation. Ability to use the internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook is essential.
