Posting for a Knowledge Exchange Lead, OpiATE Initiative, CAMH

The OpiATE Knowledge Exchange Lead will play an important role in implementing a suite of province-wide projects under CAMH’s OpiATE Initiative. This initiative disseminates and evaluates multi-disciplinary knowledge exchange activities leading to a comprehensive system of care for people with opioid problems and fosters the safe use of opioid medications to prevent adverse consequences for people.  You will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a variety of knowledge exchange activities including workshops, webinars, online courses and resources, accredited professional continuing education events, and developing communities of practice and other mentor/mentee networks. You will also be responsible for determining and using best practices in establishing and supporting these networks, including EENet. You will do all the above in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary group of professionals both within and outside of CAMH. You will also use dissemination networks and social media to improve professional and public awareness on the safe use of opioid medication, and to reduce stigmatized perceptions of people with opioid problems. You will work with the OpiATE Advisory Committee to provide guidance and feedback to the OpiATE Project, and will support peer education activities to help consumers bring their story to service providers. Finally, you will work with the OpiATE Team to monitor developments in the field and the fit of our strategies, and to adjust approaches accordingly, through a team-based strategic planning process. 

You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.  The position is located at 33 Russell Street in Toronto and will involve some travel within the GTA and occasionally to Hamilton, the OpiATE Initiative’s other principal office location.

 Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in the Social or Health Sciences and a minimum of 3 years related experience. Candidates with a relevant undergraduate degree will be considered if they also possess extensive (10 years+) and closely-related experience. The successful candidate is required to possess experience and demonstrated success at the following: strategic planning and management of complex projects; planning and organizing knowledge exchange activities including workshops, webinars, online courses and communities of practice; development of work plans, budgets, communication plans, and in conducting needs assessments, literature searches, and evaluating knowledge exchange activities; working with consumers in peer education initiatives; strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse task load, and solve problems; proficiency in the use of MS Office software, including spreadsheet and presentation applications, web and social media technologies; working independently and possessing the ability for self-directed learning, but also able to collaborate well with team members with excellent networking, leadership, and relationship building to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and to facilitate the development of partnerships. Accordingly, experience working in partnership with physicians, pharmacists, addiction counsellors, other clinicians, researchers, educators, and provincial organizations is an important requirement. An understanding of opioids as well as other drugs, and mental health problems, is also required, as is a valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle. Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, and respect is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $28.94- $39.05 per hour.
