Rural and Northern Seniors Health
The Position
We are now accepting applications for a tw year postdoctoral fellowship position with the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit at its University of Saskatchewan location in Saskatoon. SPHERU’s mission is the promotion of health equity by understanding and addressing population health disparities through policy-relevant and engaged research. We fulfill this mission by actively involving communities, non-governmental organizations, and policy and decision-makers in both the research enterprise itself, and in the communication of research results.
The post-doctoral position will link to a larger project, Healthy Aging in Place: Improving Rural and Northern Aboriginal Seniors’ Health, which will examine the health impact of current and historical interventions on Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal seniors in rural and northern settings (please refer to www.spheru.ca for further details on the project). This position will be supervised by Dr. Sylvia Abonyi, Canada Research Chair in Aboriginal Health.
The Candidate
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a PhD whose postdoctoral program will outline research that is consistent with the Healthy Aging in Place: Improving Rural and Northern Aboriginal Seniors’ Health project.
- Term: April 2011 – March 2013 (start date negotiable)
- Up to $45,000 year, for two years
