The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto in collaboration with ELLICSR (Electronic Living Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Cancer Survivorship Research) and the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation are seeking to fill the following position:
Title: Knowledge Broker
Status: Temporary part time (3 to 6 months)
Project Title: Mutual engagement of patients and providers: integrating knowledge through participatory design
Location: University Health Network and University of Toronto, Toronto
Overview: the successful candidate will assist with research ethics applications, recruit, obtain informed consents, and conduct workshops. The knowledge broker must design, facilitate and evaluate a series of workshops with women with breast cancer and clinicians who provide care to this population. This initiative is based on study findings from research conducting with women with breast cancer related to decision making and information needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with writing of research ethics applications for the University Health Network and the University of Toronto
- Design, facilitate and evaluate approximately three workshops with 5 to 7 participants
- Collect, enter, securely manage and analyze data (e.g. evaluation forms) obtained in the workshops
- Collaborate with the plain language writer with preparation of a document to aid patients in decision making
- Participate in the preparation of practice guidelines or draft manuscript for publication and/or conference presentation in scientific venues
Qualifications
- Masters Degree (Health or Social Sciences)
- Experience writing research ethics applications
- Experience designing, facilitating and evaluating workshops
- Experience with knowledge brokering and an understanding of integrated knowledge translation
- Experience working with patient and clinician populations
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of participatory design and Delphi method (or similar) as well issues related to decision making in breast cancer an asset.
