Valentines isn’t just for who you love but for what you love doing. Join us for dinner and some exchange of knowledge about knowledge exchange, including a presentation on Brokered Dialogue, a new film-based research method for bridging perspectives and contexts.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS
Janet Parsons and Jim Lavery, scientists in the Keenan Research Centre of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital, will be speaking about Brokered Dialogue, a new film-based research and public engagement method that was developed to study complex social phenomena, such as controversial drug purchasing decisions. The main assumption behind the method is that communication gaps exist among stakeholders with multiple and often divergent interests and perspectives, and that dialogue can bridge these gaps and provide explanatory insights about the phenomena in question. Brokered Dialogue uses film to provide a controlled process for participants to share and critically examine each others’ perspectives.
