Position Description:
The Toronto Dementia Research Alliance (TDRA) housed at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time, temporary one (1) year Research Coordinator to support our work on knowledge translation, communications and community engagement. Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Operations and the Executive Director, you will be responsible for creating engaging, accessible web- and paper-based content that clearly communicates the TDRA’s goals and achievements. This includes writing content based on interviews with researchers or relevant trends, generating plain-language content about our ongoing research studies, creating promotional content, maintaining an up-to-date listing of conferences and funding opportunities, expanding our social media presence, and leading the ongoing maintenance/update of our website. In addition, you will also lead our Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), who play a large role in shaping the clinical research undertaken by the TDRA research community and TDRA’s strategic goals and direction. Successful facilitation of the PFAC includes planning meetings, working with the PFAC Chairs to create agendas and approve documents, track progress on and implement deliverables, and act as the main point of contact for council members. The Research Coordinator will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourage teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Masters’ degree in Science in addition to two (2) years of relevant experience working in a research environment. Interacting with individuals and family members with dementia is an asset. Previous experience working or volunteering in a health services or academic setting would be an asset. Experience developing and managing a knowledge translation plan is a requirement. Demonstrated experience working with WordPress, Google Analytics and MailChimp are required. A strong working knowledge of social media (Twitter and LinkedIN) and tracking metrics is required. Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), Internet Search engines, and infographic software (Venngage) is required. The successful candidate should have the ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing to both research and a non-research audiences. Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with multiple stakeholders in the field of dementia and to mobilize diverse stakeholder groups towards dementia clinical research recruitment. An understanding of the Canadian clinical research healthcare system and public health environment, including the interrelationship between patient advocacy organizations, research institutions, healthcare practitioners and governments towards the support of research in dementia. The ability to manage and adapt to diverse work environments and conditions is essential. Candidates require the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset

Salary Range: $33.01 per hour – $44.53 per hour
