Alberta Innovates is pleased to host the third regional Training Course on Research Impact Assessment from March 5-8, 2017 in Banff, Alberta. Participants in this practical course will learn how to put research and innovation impact assessments into practice. With this skill we, as members of a broad research and innovation system, can support evidence informed policy and decision making and demonstrate responsible stewardship of public research and innovation resources. Through the course, Alberta Innovates in helping build local expertise for global competitiveness in assessment the impact of research and innovation.
Who should attend? If you are a researcher, evaluator, entrepreneur, knowledge broker or decision maker or work in a policy or research and innovation setting and want to learn more about the growing field of impact assessment, this is the course for you!
What will you learn about? Several tools, techniques and tips will be taught that will help you better demonstrate the impact and value of research and innovation, including how to best develop impact stories for diverse audiences. You will learn how to effectively plan, assess, measure and communicate impact results of research and innovation through presentations from expert faculty, individual and peer-to-peer learning exercises, and development of your own draft impact assessment plan. Faculty members and guest lecturers bring diverse perspectives and invaluable “real world” insights into each session. You will also have numerous opportunities to network with other individuals interested in research impact assessment and to become part of a growing community of practice, both provincially and internationally through our affiliation with the International School on Research Impact Assessment (ISRIA).
