Manager, Knowledge Translation
As a result of organizational growth, Parachute is seeking a dedicated, results driven and innovative leader to build the foundation for knowledge translation activities and management of knowledge to achieve the organization’s strategic goals. A key component of the role will be developing and implementing an evidence-‐based knowledge mobilization strategy for Parachute, building capacity within the organization for KT, and building relationships, internal and external to the organization. Parachute is a national, charitable organization dedicated to preventing injuries and saving lives. Parachute was established in July 2012 and unites the former organizations of Safe Communities Canada, Safe Kids Canada, SMARTRISK and ThinkFirst Canada into one leader in injury prevention. Parachute’s injury prevention solutions, knowledge mobilization, public policy, and social awareness efforts are designed to help Canadians reduce their risks of injury while achieving Parachute’s vision of an injury-‐free Canada where Canadians enjoy long lives lived to the fullest. Responsibilities: • Lead the development and implementation of a Knowledge Management Strategy to support the organizational KT Framework including managing the overall process from inception to implementation, ongoing support and evaluation • Manage the Framework to describe the injury problem in Canada, to identify possible injury solutions, mobilize injury research and manage the Parachute reference centre • Implement recommendations from the Knowledge Translation Management Strategy • Improve knowledge translation within the organization by supporting and facilitating training to conduct reviews to generate and synthesize evidence to inform our injury solution programming • Create/continue to invest in central organizational resources to support KT activities, including information sharing tools • Work closely with senior management and other areas of the organization, identifying changes needed to the organizational culture to better support KT activities and build a KT component into new initiatives • Consult with researchers and practitioners as part of the knowledge dissemination process. • Lead the grant process and act as PI on funding applications.
Qualifications: • Graduate or Post-‐graduate training in Health Promotion, Knowledge Translation or Knowledge Management or related field. Knowledge Translation Certificate an asset. • Experience in epidemiology, data collection, statistics and analysis. • Demonstrated team leadership experience in research and/or Knowledge Translation. • Experience and/or training in injury prevention. • Experience in applied research. • Experience in a range of related activities including written/oral communication, liaising with government and other stakeholders. • Knowledge of the Canadian health care system. • Ability to travel • Exceptional interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills. • Excellent judgment, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills. • Exemplary project management skills; highly detail oriented. • Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and diplomacy in dealing with various stakeholders; able to effectively build relationships. • Self motivated and works well both independently as well as in a team environment. • Demonstrates initiative, creativity and flexibility. • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects, simultaneously, with varying degrees of complexity. • French language an asset.
