The theme of RSGS’s inaugural conference is “Collaborating in Complexity: Evolving Partnerships Between Gerontological Evidence and Practice.” The Conference will create an interprofessional and interdisciplinary forum to learn, discuss, and present issues, practices, or research related to health and older adults.
The 2014 Conference program features a range of oral and poster presentations on topics related to senior friendly hospitals, person-centred care, and changing attitudes in dementia care. We are pleased to announce Dr. Stephen Katz (Trent University) will be delivering a keynote entitled: Falls and Falling: The Dialogue Between Research and Experience. This presentation explores the everyday meaning of falls and falling amongst older people. An award’s ceremony will follow to honour the achievement of the conference submissions. A variety of afternoon workshop/oral sessions will challenge conference participants to explore new possibilities in seniors’ care. These sessions will include: a simulation-based experiential workshop facilitated by UOIT/Durham College; an introduction to a collaborative learning platform facilitated by Providence Continuing Care & Centre for Studies in Aging and Health; and an in-depth presentation on evidence-based, system co-design facilitated by PATH Northumberland.
