Dear Colleagues,
This year’s Global Implementation Conference will be held August 19-21 (GIC 2013) in Washington, DC. For those of you attended the inaugural conference in 2011, you’ll recall that this was a fabulous opportunity to contribute to and exchange knowledge about applied implementation practice, science and policy in human services. This year, the GIC 2013 agenda will put a strong focus on the HOW of implementation science and practice, and will give participants a wide range of opportunities to share their knowledge about and experience with concrete implementation tools, concepts and frameworks. This focus will also be reflected in the work of the implementation practice groups (IPGs), with each group focusing on one specific crosscutting issue in implementation: Laying the groundwork; Implementation teams; Workforce; Leadership and organizational change; Measures and tools; Fidelity and scaling up; Communication; Policy engagement and Implementation Science synthesis.
I’m excited to co-facilitate the Communication IPG with my colleague Nathalie Reid (Information and Resources Manager at the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress, UCLA). The goal of this IPG is to discuss different ways to communicate in, about and on implementation. Our focus is on innovative approaches to knowledge exchange related to implementation, including ways that technology can be used to support these efforts. Although the deadline for presentation submissions has expired, I’d like to invite you to consider submitting a proposal to this conference, within the theme of the Communication IPG. Please let me know if you are interested (contact info is below), and I would be happy to discuss further.
Best regards,
Purnima
