Job Type: Half Time; six month contract, potentially renewable

Position Description:

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Research, a half-time Research Associate will work to promote knowledge mobilization between and amongst FIFSW and its many partners. Partners include other disciplines, universities, and community agencies both locally, nationally and globally. In this role the Research Associate will act as a knowledge broker, interpreter, mediator and connector between research and the knowledge needs of FIFSW’s various communities.  The Research Associate will be involved in a number of faculty lead research projects and with various community partners. An important component of this job is maintaining the research office website as a virtual community meeting ground amongst partners.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Immediate deliverable: work with faculty to populate the content of the Knowledge Hubs outlined on the mock-up research office webpage model;
  • Work with/train research assistants connected with faculty research projects to develop clear language information sheets about their research findings;
  • Assist in the preparation of the Knowledge Mobilization section of faculty grant applications;
  • Working with the Associate Dean and Research Manager on Faculty wide research priorities;
  • Meeting with faculty members, community groups and agencies around research initiatives that are relevant to social work;
  • Maintaining research office website

Qualifications:  This position is ideally directed to someone with a PhD in social work or near completion, who has experience in knowledge mobilization, extensive knowledge of the broader field of social work, has experience using a range of research methodologies in a variety of settings and possesses their attendant skills.  Applicants must have a great deal of initiative, superior communication skills and excellent writing ability.

Rate: $35/hour + 4% vacation pay + 10% benefits
