Purpose:
Reporting to the Executive Officer and accountable to the Associate Dean, Research and Professional Development, the Director, Research, Knowledge Mobilization and Strategic Partnerships is responsible for the management and delivery of services designed to enhance, promote, and support research in the Faculty of Education. The Director serves as advisor to the Associate Dean Research and the Dean regarding the overriding strategic direction of research, develops, implements and enforces research policy, identifies and develops research partnerships with government and community, coordinates major research initiatives, stimulates nominations for awards and oversees the delivery of research services in the Faculty. The Director has a primary responsibility for knowledge mobilization in the Faculty.
Education:
Graduate degree required [e.g. social sciences or education field preferred]; Ph. D, preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years recent, related experience in an academic environment; strong leadership, project management and staff management experience.
Skills:
Professional and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and diverse research constituency. Working knowledge and understanding of the national funding arena and research opportunities. Proven relationship building abilities where several stakeholders are involved. Ability to develop new initiatives for the success of the organization. Expertise in preparation of complex reports, applications and proposals. Excellent research and analytical skills. Excellent organizational, planning and coordination skills. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, discretion and diplomacy. Supervision of staff in a unionized environment strongly preferred. Proficiency in MS Office.
